When Paganini, the famous violin virtuoso, wanted a piece for viola solo and orchestra, he turned to none of than Hector Berlioz. The result was Harold in Italy, a symphony with solo viola obligato. Also featured on this program is Schumann’s Cello Concerto re-envisioned for viola by Ettore Causa.
