Modern Melodists
The sweeping Nordic melodies of Sibelius’ violin concerto meet Jack Liebeck’s “beguiling silvery tone” (BBC Music Magazine) in this lyrically-inspired program. In the twentieth century only Rachmaninoff can match the passionate tunes of Sibelius: we hear the Russian’s Third Symphony, music that broods over memories of a lost homeland with melancholy phrases and unapologetic emotion. Chinese Maestro Daye Lin conducts.
