Synopsis:

Zesty rhythms, passionate dances, and lyrical love songs are usually on reserve in Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual Latin American Music Night. A favorite of musicians and audiences alike, join the diplomatic community from Latin-American countries in a special performance featuring the scores of South America’s musical giants. The Argentinian pianist Alexander Panizza, known for his nuanced but virtuosic tone, teams up with Brazilian Maestra Ligia Amadio for a concert of brilliant master works from the southern continent of America.

With a first name like Mozart (yes, that was his given name!), the Brazilian composer Camargo Guarnieri had a lot to live up to. But, this 20th century master chose his own path and developed a musical style that encompassed both his native roots and a skillful compositional technique that continues to impress to this day. His beautiful and mysterious Abertura Concertante is a sparkling opening to the concert.

Maestro Amadio and pianist Alexander Panizza light things up in Alberto Ginastera’s sparkling Piano Concerto No. 1.

In his tributes to the genius of J. S. Bach, the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos is at his best. The Bachianas Brasileira no. 7 for orchestra merges the composer’s love for the Baroque master with the unique qualities of Brazilian folk music: a statement of the universal value of music that unites the world.
