TPO Concert in Yala

The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) will be performing regionally with upcoming concerts in Yala, Thailand on September 2, 2017 and Penang, Malaysia on September 4, 2017.

The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) with support from the College of Music, Mahidol University in coordination with the Yala City Municipality, the Penang Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Thai Consulate General in Penang, Malaysia organized the “TPO Concert in Yala” to bring the unique experience of live symphonic music to people in the Southern Thailand on September 2, 2017, beginning at 19.00 at the Main Auditorium of Yala Rajabhat University. The “TPO Concert in Penang : The 60th Anniversary of Thailand-Malaysia Diplomatic Relations Celebration Concert on September 4, 2017 will begin at 19.00 at Dewan Sri Pinang Hall, Penang, Malaysia. This concert celebrates the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand – Malaysia diplomatic relations, as well as promoting Thai culture and the strong relationship between the two countries.

This concerts are part of TPO’s annual Asian tour, now in its third consecutive year. The TPO serves as a cultural ambassador by traveling to perform concerts in ASEAN countries. Previously TPO performed in Vientiane, Laos in 2015 and in Yangon, Mandalay, and Nawpyidaw, Myanmar in 2016. Performances feature popular local folk songs and masterworks of the western classical repertoire. Local artists are invited to join for the performances. The resulting collaboration is a showcase of shared friendships and cultural values.

The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) is under the patronage of the Royal Thai Government and is part of the College of Music, Mahidol University. The mission of the TPO is to enrich the life of the country as it inspires, entertains and educates a wide and diverse audience with the unique experience of live symphonic music, ensuring that future generations will continue to enjoy this legacy that so magnificently celebrates the human spirit. Moreover, the TPO aims to achieve a reputation for excellent music performance through concerts, recordings and cooperation with acclaimed soloists and conductors. The TPO is devoted to performing music of all styles and genres from western orchestral repertoire to Asian and ethnic Thai music. Furthermore, the TPO regularly commissions new works from prominent national and regional composers.

For the 12th Season TPO Asian Tour 2017, TPO will travel to perform 2 concerts on September 2, 2017 at 19.00 hours at the Main Auditorium of Yala Rajabhat University, Yala and on September 4, 2017 at 19.00 hours (local time) at Dewan Sri Pinang, Penang, Malaysia. Both concerts are free and open to the public. Reserving tickets in advance is recommended.
