Russian Reveries

Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony is an epic journey into the very heart of expressive ecstasy, few pieces can rival the third movement’s emotional climax. Unapologetically Romantic, serene, and full of unblemished purity, the Second is Rachmaninoff’s great heart-on-your-sleeve moment. Celebrated for her sonorous tone, compelling interpretations, and flawless technique, Francesca Dego delves into the virtuosic pyrotechnics of Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto.

Synopsis:
Russian Reveries explores the imaginative tone worlds of two great Russian composers: Rachmaninoff, a pianist and symphonists firmly in the Romantic tradition and Shostakovich, a modernist who reinvented the symphony in the 20th century.

Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony is an epic journey into the very heart of expressive ecstasy: few pieces can rival the third movement’s emotional climax. Unapologetically Romantic, serene and full of unblemished purity, the Second is Rachmaninoff’s great heart-on-your-sleeve moment.

Virtuosic pyrotechnics of are the hallmarks of Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto. In the role of soloist is Francesca Dego, celebrated for her sonorous tone, compelling interpretations and flawless technique. A Deutsche Gramophone recording artist, Francesca is one of the world’s most dynamic violin soloists.

Audiences will also hear Prateep Suphanrojn’s tribute to newly crowned Thai King Rama X in his Maha Varijalongkorn Overture.
