Children’s Day Concert: Peter and The Wolf

Family members of all ages are welcome to join adventurous Peter, the bad wolf, and the magic puppets of Sema Thai Marionette in a feast for the ears and eyes. The program starts with the orchestral version of Phama Khwe, better known in Thailand as Chang (Elephant). The audience will then be introduced to each instrument in the orchestra by Britten’s colorful Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra. Mahidol voice faculty Ben Dooley narrates Prokofiev’s enduring musical personification of a youth and his animal friends. The story is brought to life using Thai traditional puppets, a unique craft dating back centuries.

Children of all ages are welcome to join adventurous Peter, the bad wolf, the magic marionettes of Sema Thai Puppet Troupe in a performance of Prokofiev’s enduing musical masterpiece, Peter and the Wolf. The inclusion of Thai traditional puppets in this special production proves the universality of the story and its tuneful music. The story will be read by the charismatic voice of Mahidol voice faculty Benjamin Dooley.

Not familiar with the instruments of the orchestra? No problem! Let Maestro Thanapol Setabrahmana introduce you to them all in Benjamin Britten’s rousing Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.
