Over the past 10 years, the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra has developed into one of the best symphonic ensembles in South East Asia. Most of the thai and international musicians teach at the Mahidol University Musical College in Salaya near Bangkok.

The concert tour is a cooperative project of the Royal Thai Embassy, the Embassy of Germany and the Goethe-Institute, the German Cultural Center in Myanmar, with the goal of sharing musical excellence with our friends in Myanmar. The coming to Myanmar of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra also represents a mission of friendship as well as an activity to celebrate two auspicious occasions: the Seventieth Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne and The Auspicious Occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on 12 August 2016.

Such a performance by a major renowned symphony ensemble offering a spectacular program of this caliber has not been heard in Myanmar for a great many years.
