Celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Mendelssohn’s birth year, the TPO will kick start the 5th season with an all Mendelssohn program. As suggested by the title, the symphony magnificently captures both the joy and the suffering implicit in the subject, building to a powerful finale including variations on Luther’s confessional chorale Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott.
