Inspired by the poem L´Après-midi d´un faune by Stephane Mallarmé, the prelude is one of Debussy’s most famous works and is very free as to tonality and harmonic function. The Prélude is followed by another piece of Debussy: La Mer is a masterpiece of suggestion and subtlety in its rich depiction of the ocean. Joining together with the TPO is our own Agrita Lakute, presenting the Flute concerto by Ibert, written in 1934.
