History of TPO
Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra gave more than 20 concerts in its first season, beginning November 2005. A pre-season on June 23rd 2005 was the start. Our star soloists were world-renowned artists and trumpeters, Jen Lindemann and David Hickman performing the Hertel Trumpet Concerto No.1 in E flat and the Haydn Trumpet Concerto in E flat respectively. The second pre-season concert set the path and was entitled When East Meets West
. The China National Symphony Orchestra with Mr. Liu, Yun Zhi, performed as our guests compositions from Germany and China.
Gudni A. Emilsson, Chief Conductor of the TPO, took the baton
and became our chief conductor in September 2005. Before, he won numerous national and international prizes, among others the Award of the Herbert von Karajan Foundation Salzburg. In Thailand he started to work on recommendation and with the support of the Goethe-Institut Thailand. Aside from his post as chief-conductor of the TPO, he is music director and chief conductor of the Tübingen Chamber Orchestra (Germany) and the Camerata Bohemica Prague
(Czech Republic). We are happy about his support and his international experience.
